my father was murdered in houston in 1983 and there was never any information surrounding his death. I would like to try and find some information of get some closure. There is someone out there that knows something.

I believe I found some historical news articles regarding the death of Tony Ivey.  I see he was originally from NY and died in Texas in Mar 1983?  There was someone questioned in his case, his former roomate, Gerald I. Wright, 42, in 1984.   In 1984, Wright was arrested in a kidnapping case.  An article states Tony was shot  3 times, in his back and lower body, in the bathroom of an apartment they shared.  There was no sign of forced entry to the apartment and Wright found his body.  It references Homicide Sergeant G.T. Neely was working on the case.   One article also references that Gerald and Tony were homosexual lovers.  There is someone else that became Wright's roommate and had moved to Texas from FL, shortly before Tony died (Dennis Moss, 26, in 1984).   He was an accomplice in the kidnapping case too.
