HOUSTON - A mother is pleading for help from the public to solve the murder of her son, who was found shot to death near a southeast Houston mall in Dec. 30, 2005.
Belinda Rodriguez and her family conducted a vigil on Wednesday afternoon in a grassy area near Almeda Mall where 22-year-old Alex P. Morales Jr. was found dead.
Investigators in 2005 concluded that Morales was driving a black Chevrolet pickup truck down Interstate 45, the Gulf Freeway frontage road, and speaking to someone on a cell phone when someone also driving a Chevrolet truck chased after Morales and shot him twice in the head.
Morales crashed the truck was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The truck that the suspect was in is described as a gold or beige Chevrolet truck with an extended cab.
