Connie Mikel | Houston Montrose Area (June 1992)
« on: November 03, 2008, 11:28:37 AM »
Case number 64506592T
Connie was found dead in her apartment at W.Alabama/Dunlavy in early June 1992 by her friend/neighbor after a couple of days of noone being able to contant her by phone. The neighbor checked the door and it was unlocked so he went in and found her. The neighbor was out of town and not considered a suspect, he is still a friend as of now. Connie was not someone who would just open the door to someone she did not know and always kept her doors locked. We believe the person who did this is someone she knew and trusted enough to let them inside.  She had cash in her purse and jewelry laying around. It does not appear that anything was stolen. The homicide investigator had a suspect, but nothing ever came of that. We haven't heard anything in years. ANY INFO on this case would be great. Thanks

Wow, I'm glad to find this. I am a Houston paralegal about to enter law school. I write for Examiner.com as Houston Legal Issues Examiner. I would like to do a feature on Connie, who was also my best friend. Anyone with information, please email me at samihartsfield.com. I think the detective who worked on this case was named Brad Rudolph, but it was so long ago, I'm not sure. I can always call, but it helps to know a name. Anyone recall the name? Or her sister Jenny's married name? Or her friend Daniel's last name? (It was pronounced yeshick but unsure of spelling). I would STILL like to get some closure on this even after all this time. Maybe even write a book about it after the article.

I also can't recall the neighbor's name.
I do recall the suspect's first name, but not the last.
Anyone with info, PLEASE email me at samihartsfield@gmail.com.

I'm very sorry abot your friend, that must be very sad.

After all this time and modern science, I hope they can get the person who did this. When you write that article, can you post a link here so we can read it.

Talked to a detective today. This case is once again active and HPD is still looking to find anyone who might have some information. I don't think the initial investigation was exactly thorough, but i could be wrong. Modern tools and technology should hopefully wrap this one up...

That is good news! Sounds like they had a suspect back in 92, maybe if he is the one who did this, it can be proven either way.
