WHAT: Investigators Need Public’s Help in Solving 2001 Murder of Houston Woman
On October 18, 2001 at 3:30 a.m., a green 1997 Mazda MPV minivan was found in a pay parking lot in the 200 block of North Main by the University of Houston Police. The van had been traveling westbound on the Katy Freeway (westbound) when it took the Main Street exit.
The vehicle failed to stop at the intersection and came to rest in the parking lot.
When the officers looked inside the vehicle, they found the body of 32-year-old Nikita Willis. Ms. Willis had died of several gunshot wounds. A weapon recovered from inside the vehicle was later determined to be the one that was used to shoot Ms. Willis. Ms. Willis normally frequented the area of Lyons and Waco Streets and had been seen there earlier that day by friends. Police believe this is where she may have met the person who murdered her.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called in to the 713-222-8477 tips hotline that leads to the identification, arrest and charging of any suspect in this crime. All callers remain anonymous.
