Crime Stoppers and investigators with the HPD Homicide Division are asking for the public’s help in solving the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Cornisha “Nene” McCowan at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2007.
Investigators believe Cornisha was a victim of mistaken identity. She had just left an evening of skating at a local rink in the 13,400 block of South Main Street in Southwest Houston, near the corner of South Main and Chimney Rock.
Two groups of young people had been fighting at the rink, but Cornisha was not involved with either group or the fight. As her family’s car left the rink, another vehicle approached theirs and the occupants fired multiple shots, several of which struck and killed Cornisha.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and charging of any suspect(s) in this tragic
case. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). All callers remain anonymous.
