35-year-old Danny Ray Alexander was shot to death at the Poppa Burger restaurant at 1622 North Main about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 after a woman with Danny exchanged words with a Hispanic male who picked up his order and then left in a burgundy extended-cab pickup truck with chrome rims, followed by a woman driving a small dark-colored 4-door compact car.
When Danny and his friend went around back to the restroom moments later, witnesses heard gunshots, and Danny ran back to the service window, seeking help. He had been shot in the back, and died later that night. Witnesses saw a burgundy extended-cab pickup truck leaving the corner of Freeman Street and Harrington after the shots were fired. Investigators are seeking information on the Hispanic male who drove the burgundy truck away from the Poppa Burger after exchanging words with Danny Alexander’s female companion.
