On Thursday, June 7, 2007, at approximately 6:15 a.m., 46-year-old Carlos Berdeguez was driving his white Chevy pickup truck southbound on the North Loop East just north of Interstate 10, when he was shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Mr. Berdeguez’ truck struck the center retaining wall, swerved across the freeway and struck the retaining wall twice more before coming to a stop in the 3200 block of the East Loop North, just south of I-10.
Arriving investigators found the passenger side window shattered, and Mr. Berdeguez deceased in the vehicle.
