On Sunday, June 19, 2005, Dominick James “Nick” Summa arrived at 3:00 a.m. at the VIP Blues Club at 3743 Greenbriar to meet family and friends.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., unknown suspects drove by the club and fired several shots from a semi-automatic weapon. One shot entered the club and struck Nick Summa in the head. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was prounounced dead at 4:55 a.m.
There were no actual witnesses to the shooting, but employees of a nearby club observed a black 4- door Cadillac Deville driving slowly along Greenbriar just prior to the shooting. This vehicle was occupied by two people identified only as white or hispanic males.
